An (adorable) rabbit with a small dewlap

A dewlap is a a flap of fat that sits under the chin of many vertebrates. My favorite kind of dewlap is the ones female rabbits. Sometimes big enough to look like large pillows that they will rest their chins on as they sleep. Rabbits will use the fur from their dewlaps to make nests and keep their offspring warm.

Enjoy this new knowledge, and they next time you see bunny sporting a big poofy neck pillow, point and yell "check out that dewlap!"

If we are discussing rabbits, let me show you a few adorable pictures of my late rabbit, Logan.
